Hill House Glasgow, designed and built by Charles Rennie Mackintosh as the family home. Today in dire need of renovation, rather than close off to the public The National Trust made a bold decision to have a protective outer shell designed allowing the building to dry out and breath whilst not impeding views on all four sides. Exploded View & AlphaMesh worked closely with London based Carmody Groarke Architects on design and supply of 2700m2 AlphaMesh 12.0mm polished Stainless Steel. Hill House Glasgow is the Largest Chain Mail Project in the World

Concept to reality
Alpha Mesh 12.0mm Stainless SteelOur ring mesh was selected for this project as the structure requires air and shelter whilst not obstructing light, allowing the restorers to carry out renovations over the next 10/15 years. A series of staircases and walkways were incorporated in the steel works allowing visitors to view renovations at all levels as an ongoing exhibition. As well as the practical side, the Hill House Alpha Mesh facade ensures that the site is fully secured when not in use. |
